A woman identified as Mahi Arya, also known as Dolly, has been apprehended by authorities for her alleged involvement in hiring a snake charmer to murder her boyfriend, Ankit Chauhan. Local reports suggest that Mahi was reportedly motivated by true crime TV shows and had plotted the killing for two months, aiming to begin a new life with another partner.
Together with her lover, Deep Kandpal, and an unnamed maid, Mahi allegedly orchestrated the attack. She purportedly paid the snake charmer 10,000 Indian rupees (equivalent to just under £100) to carry out the act. Subsequently, Mahi invited the victim to her residence in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, India on Friday, July 14, where the incident took place.
The authorities acted swiftly to apprehend Mahi Arya in connection with the crime, shedding light on the potential influence of true crime media on real-life incidents.
