The U.S. State Department, in anticipation of a summit between President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, emphasized that any transfer of weapons from North Korea to Russia would constitute a breach of several United Nations Security Council resolutions.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller conveyed the U.S. position to reporters on Monday, stating, “We have been vigorous in our enforcement of sanctions against entities supporting Russia’s military actions, and we remain committed to enforcing these sanctions rigorously. We are also prepared to impose new sanctions as warranted.”
