Comic standup and actor David Chappelle recently gave a surprise, standup show in San Francisco in which he was critical of the liberal city that he once his “second home.”
At his show Thursday night, Chappelle described playing hundreds of shows in the city earlier in his career, saying he was at the time “using the city like a goddamn ATM” whenever he needed a paycheck.
Later in the show, Chappelle asked, “What the f—k happened to this place?”
He told a story about eating at a restaurant in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood a few nights earlier and seeing someone defecate in front of the restaurant as he was walking in.
“Y’all [N-words] need a Batman!” he also said.
