College Basketball Star Fatally Shot Days Before His First Game

A young Massachusetts basketball standout, who played a pivotal role in securing his high school’s state championship, met a tragic end just days before his anticipated debut as a college freshman. Tragically, the shooting that claimed his life appears to be a targeted act, leading to the apprehension of a suspect.
Carl-Hens Beliard, an 18-year-old freshman at Salem State University, was discovered inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Despite immediate medical attention at Salem Hospital, he was regrettably pronounced dead.
Salem police have reassured the public that this incident does not seem to be a random act of violence, and there is no apparent ongoing threat to the Salem State University community.
