EU Approves Shutting Down 3,000 Farms For Climate Change

The Dutch government’s proposal to close down 3,000 farms and permanently prohibit farmers from starting anew elsewhere in the EU.

The proposal was approved by the European Union on Tuesday as part of its ambitious climate objectives.

Margrethe Vestager, a vice president of the European Commission, which is the governing body of the EU, remarked, “The schemes will enhance environmental conditions in those regions and encourage more sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the livestock sector, while not excessively distorting competition.”
