Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top White House adviser of COVID-19, this weekend seemed to flip-flopped again on people wearing a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On Saturday, he acknowledged on CNN the findings of a recent study that found masks had little if any impact on the overall course of the pandemic.
However, amid a recent increase in virus case numbers he also said: “I am concerned that people will not abide by recommendations.
Fauci, who until recently was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, gave changing guidance on the efficacy of masking during the pandemic – first saying wearing them unnecessary for the general public, then saying “universal wearing of masks is the most practical way to go.”
