Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on Sunday pushed back on claims the military is “woke” and as a result not prepared for modern threats.
Milley said on CNN that he’s “not even sure what that word truly means.”
The word general means someone is informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality.
Critics of the movement say it has gone to far, to the extent institutions have become too focused on woke-ism, at the expense of other priorities.
“What I see is a military that’s exceptionally strong. It’s powerful; it’s ready. In fact, our readiness rates, the way we measure readiness, is better now than they’ve been in years,” Milley said.
