Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) dropped out of the 2024 presidential race Sunday night as the GOP field continued to winnow in the face of Donald Trump’s massive lead.
Scott, who joined the race in May 2022, made optimism and positivity a hallmark on the campaign trail but struggled to rise above single-digit support and his fundraising began to dwindle in recent weeks.
He announced the suspension of his campaign on Fox News’ “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy,” just four days after the third Republican presidential debate.
“I love America more today than I did on May 22nd, but when I go back to Iowa, it will not be as a presidential candidate. I am suspending my campaign,” Scott said.
