NYC Passes Bill To Outlaw ‘Weight Discrimination’

The New York City Council has passed a bill that prohibits discrimination based on height and weight when it comes to employment, housing, and public accommodations.

New York City joins six other cities and one state that have already passed similar protections, including Binghamton, New York; Madison, Wisconsin; Urbana, Illinois; Washington, D.C.; and San Francisco and Santa Cruz, California, according to CNN.

Councilman Shaun Abreu, who sponsored the bill, said the legislation is not just about protecting people from discrimination, but also about changing the culture.
