In a closely divided vote, the House passed the annual defense policy bill on Friday, with Republicans leading the charge in an effort to reverse what they view as the Biden administration’s “woke” Pentagon policies.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), typically a bipartisan legislation, was approved by a vote of 219-210, with only four Democrats voting in favor, mirroring the four Republicans who opposed it.
The majority of Democrats opposed the bill due to the inclusion of contentious amendments that seek to restrict the Pentagon’s abortion travel reimbursement policy, transgender medical care, and diversity, equity and inclusion programs within the military.
