She’s Back! Dianne Feinstein Returning To Senate After Nearly 3 Months

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is returning to the Senate after a three-month-long absence due to health issues, her spokesperson confirmed.

On Wednesday, Feinstein is expected to cast her first vote since February 16 after missing 91 floor votes due to shingles, according to an NBC News tally.

Her absence made it challenging for Democrats to confirm some of President Joe Biden’s nominees because Democrats have a one-seat advantage in the Senate. Her absence was especially notable on the Judiciary Committee, where a majority of 11-10 became a 10-10 stalemate, impeding Democratic efforts to confirm judges and preventing the issuance of subpoenas on a party-line vote.
