Those Offshore Wind Turbines Are An Eyesore – And They Don’t Work

President Biden has made offshore wind turbines a central element of his renewable energy plan. Problem is, those wind farms are plagued by maintenance and construction problems.
The turbines are growing – the next generation is expected to be more than 900 feet tall and generate 15 megawatts – but they fail must faster than smaller turbines, according to data from renewable energy insurer Cube.
The smaller turbines typically last five years and produce 4 to 8 megawatts; the larger offshore turbines, by contrast, fail after just one year.
