Former President Donald Trump on Monday endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley to take over the Republican National Committee when Ronna McDaniel steps down.
He also backed his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, serve as the co-chairwoman and announced that he had asked Chris LaCivita to assume the role of de facto chief operating officer.
“The RNC MUST be a good partner in the Presidential election,” Trump declared. “It must do the work we expect from the national Party and do it flawlessly. That means helping to ensure fair and transparent elections across the country, getting out the vote everywhere – even in parts of the country where it won’t be easy – and working with my campaign as the Republican presumptive nominee for President, to win this election and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he declared.
Trump touted Whatley’s commitment to “election integrity” and his performance in the Old North State as motivating his endorsement. He further indicated that his daughter-in-law is “dedicated to all that MAGA stands for” and “wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!”
