US Navy Warship Shoots Down Houthi Drone Near Yemen

A U.S. Navy warship operating near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait intercepted and shot down a drone launched from Yemen, as reported by a U.S. official on Wednesday. This incident adds to a series of provocations from Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
According to the official, initial reports indicate that the USS Carney, a Navy destroyer, identified the drone as an Iranian-made KAS-04 and deemed it a threat. The drone was subsequently shot down over water in the southern Red Sea as the ship was navigating toward the strait.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the military operation, disclosed details that have not yet been publicly announced.
